Bubbling questions, curious minds and plenty of hands-on fun: Science Week is a highlight of the year that sparks curiosity, builds skills, and helps every student encounter the wonder of God’s creation.

From magic milk to oobleck, from light and mirrors to electricity, and from density towers to a carefully guided dissection, our primary students explored the fascinating world of science in the senior school labs. Each activity stretched their thinking, stirred excitement, and made science come alive in new ways. A team of our top secondary students stepped confidently into leadership roles for Science Week, serving as lab assistants and group leaders.

"Something that I enjoyed about leading a group was that I could help them and have fun because I knew everything that we were learning. Some skills I used while leading a group was being patient and mindful to make sure they got to have and finish everything. When I saw the primary students having fun it made me happy because I was having fun just being there with them, and seeing them enjoy themselves made me happy." -Shaun (Year 7)

"Everything about helping the younger kids was fun. They had so much to say, and they have wild imaginations. What I enjoyed most was communicating with them and listening to their ideas. It was fun to see them learn, they were surprisingly super serious about everything. They had lots of fun, and I did too. I learned a lot but the thing that stood out to me the most is how much more you must articulate when talking to younger kids than adults. This was a new skill for me to learn and I feel as though I’ve grown." - Amika (Year 7)

"I felt proud to see primary kids, that would soon become a part of our high school, enjoy things that usually only high schoolers get to experience, and have fun. I learnt that I had more social and leadership skills than I initially thought. Overall it was great fun to engage and learn alongside the younger students and can’t wait until they join high school." - From Charlott (Year 8)

During the week, lots of science fun also showed up in lunchtime experiments and classroom science riddles and challenges. It was a fantastic week!

Science Week is one of the highlights of our full Science program, which spans every year level and includes Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Psychology in high school. Our students start developing their scientific inquiry skills in Kindy and grow their knowledge and love for science all the way through to year 12.
