Primary Sport supports joyful participation and skill development to develop a love of healthy movement. Students build confidence, teamwork and perseverance through our sports program, inter-house carnivals and elective opportunities with Junior Sport Development Program (Prep–Year 6) and Sport Academy (Year 4-12).

MUSIC IMMERSION

Studies show that learning an instrument can strengthen focus, emotional awareness and engagement in learning. Our music program and opportunities enable students to discover their creativity, build confidence and experience the joy of making music.

In Year 3, all our students learn string instruments and, in Year 5, all our students learn brass or woodwind instruments. Students learn the instruments in small groups and also participate in ensembles.

Ensemble Rehearsals

Students can join weekly rehearsals for Concert Bands and String Ensembles, preparing them for school events, encouraging teamwork, improving instrument skills, and providing valuable stage experience.

Compulsory Music Immersion Program

It is compulsory for all Year 3 students to study violin for one year and for all Year 5 students to study either a brass or woodwind instrument for one year. Instruments, books, and tuition are provided free of charge, with a $100 bond payable for each instrument issued.

Music Exams

Students have an option to sit for Music Examinations each year. The examinations are held by the Australian Music Examinations Board (A.M.E.B.) and credit points for the Queensland Certificate of Education can also be achieved from Grade 4 and upwards.
