There is something about experiencing camp together that unifies a cohort. At Year 7 Camp, our students spent three days at PCYC Bornhoffen in Springbrook, growing in courage, deepening friendships and strengthening their faith.

Across the camp, students experienced a mix of adventure and challenge. From creeking through water and over rocks to reach a hidden waterfall, to canoeing, hiking and the well-known “leap of faith,” each activity invited students to step beyond what felt comfortable. Along the way, they learned to encourage one another, face fears and keep going when things felt tough.

"I enjoyed exploring the creeks and swimming. I enjoyed the ‘leap of faith’ and having to be courageous to jump off, and sitting around the camp fire talking about God. The hiking experience was tough, which helped me grow my resilience." - Laveen

Camp was not only about physical challenge, but also about connection. Through team activities, shared meals, games and time around the campfire, students built stronger relationships with one another. These shared moments created space for deeper conversations, laughter and a growing sense of belonging.

For many students, the experience also strengthened their faith. Times of worship and reflection throughout the camp helped students connect what they were experiencing with their journey with God.

"During camp I definitely felt closer to my class. This camp helped me grow my faith with Jesus and showed me that nothing is impossible if you believe." - Farrah.

Year 7 Camp is an important experience at the beginning of Secondary school. It sets a foundation of courage, connection and faith that students carry with them into the years ahead.
