Our Prep to Year 2 students enjoyed an exciting and educational visit from our local firefighters as part of the Queensland Fire Department's Fire Ed Program. The program helps children understand the dangers of fire and learn the correct actions to take in an emergency.

Through interactive and collaborative activities, students explored important topics such as the difference between good fires and bad fires, the dangers of smoke, how and when to dial 000, and the role of emergency services during a fire. They also learned about fire safety at home and school, and how to create and practise an escape plan.

After the learning session, our students were thrilled to visit the firetruck and have a chance to use the fire hose. It was a hands-on learning experience that brought big smiles!

“The firefighters came and they taught about how to be safe in fires. My favourite part was when we got to test the fire hose.” - Elijah, Year 2

The session was engaging and practical, giving our students valuable knowledge and confidence to stay safe in the event of a fire. We are grateful to our local firefighters for making learning both fun and meaningful. Thank you, Queensland Fire Department!
