Spirit, sportsmanship and skill were on full display as our students hit the fields for the South Queensland Adventist School Sports Association (ASSA) Touch Football Gala Day.
Our teams shone across the divisions, with a strong performance by our U12 Girls reaching the final, a fantastic achievement. This year, ASSA Touch Football once again served as our lead-in to the All Schools Touch Football Tournament, where we proudly fielded an U13 Girls team.
"Playing at ASSA Touch and then competing at All Schools was an amazing development experience, and it’s something I’m already excited to do again next year. Our team was really close, and all the hard training we put in made the whole event unforgettable." - I, Year 6
"This year our U13 ASSA Touch and All Schools journey helped me grow so much as a player, and I can’t wait to build on that experience next year. We had such a fun team, and all our hard work in training made us proud of what we achieved together." - Layla, Year 6
ASSA is about more than scores and finals. These gala days create moments students will remember long after the trophies are put away. They offer a space for friendships to grow, for sister-school connections to strengthen, and for our young athletes to share experiences that go far beyond the field.
"My final ASSA Touch tournament in the Senior Mixed team was an incredible way to end school sport, full of memories I’ll never forget. Playing mixed added a fun new challenge, and it was there that my passion for touch football really began." - Jenaya, Year 12
Each year our students compete across three annual ASSA gala days, in Futsal, Basketball and Touch Football in U12, U15 and Open divisions. For a decade now, the Adventist School Sports Association has brought our South Queensland Adventist sister schools together through competition, connection and community. What began as a simple sporting exchange has grown into a highlight of the school year.
