Year 4 Camp marked an important milestone for our students as they stepped into their very first school camp experience. For many, it is their first time away from home in a school setting, bringing both challenge and growth. Through this experience, students begin to see what they are capable of, building confidence that carries into the years ahead.
From high ropes and archery to team challenges, orienteering, beach games and body boarding, each activity created opportunities to stretch beyond what felt comfortable. This meant overcoming nerves, taking a deep breath and choosing to give new things a go. Each student showed incredible growth and we are so proud of how they each made steps forward in their unique journeys.
"I liked going on the high ropes course. It felt really high. It's higher than it looks. I climbed up and I got to free fall off. I was a bit scared at first, but I just forced myself to do it!" - Slade
"Camp was good! I liked the boogie boarding and high ropes. It was two nights and it was my first time staying at a camp. It felt a bit scary and good, but I had a growth mindset and I said, 'I can do it.'" - Luca
"It was my first time going to camp, but it felt good. I think it’s good to go to camp because you get more independent. I liked climbing up high on the high ropes. It was a bit scary, but I did it." - Natalie
Across the three days and two nights of camp, resilience showed up in simple but powerful ways. Students encouraged one another, worked together and kept going even when things felt difficult. These shared experiences built friendships and a growing sense of independence.
“I am so proud of these wonderful students. As they overcame their nerves and pushed past their limits, they were able to achieve things they didn’t think were possible.” - Mr Moore, Deputy Principal (Primary)
For those heading to camp next year, here’s their advice:
"I want to tell next year’s students that you’re going to be okay, and you can do it!" - Luca
"I would tell future year 4s to go for it!" - Natalie
"My advice is to say to yourself, 'I can do it. It will be okay.'" - Slade
