Smiles, cheers, and team spirit! Our 2026 Yr 4–12 Swimming Carnival was a great day of participation, encouragement and celebration. It was a place where every level of swimmer belongs, from advanced competitors to those swimming 50 metres for the first time.

Our Secondary House Captains played a key role in shaping the day, helping to plan the carnival, choose the theme and design the novelty events. More than that, they led the way in building energy and participation, drawing the whole school into a shared sense of fun, spirit and belonging.

"I was excited and nervous, but I tried! I did breaststroke and freestyle and backstroke. And I even got third in a race. I want to tell next year's Year 4s to try your best and, even if you are a bit scared, give it a go!" - Ayla, Year 4

"I liked breaststroke because I am pretty fast at it, and I liked the Disney characters dress up. I think it's great for everyone to give the races a try." - Ty, Year 4

Competitive races showcased strength, speed and technique, with our experienced swimmers setting a high standard and inspiring those around them. Alongside these events, fun and creative activities brought a different kind of energy, from the treasure dive relay to the always entertaining noodle-tow relay. It is a mix of challenge and joy, where giving something a try is just as important as winning.

"It feels good to have younger kids looking up to me. I recommend for all students to keep trying. No one is going to judge you. It's just about trying and giving it your all. And for competitive swimmers, we know our capabilities so don't just own it all, share it. Encourage others." - Sophia, Year 8

What stands out most is the encouragement. Students lined the pool, walking alongside swimmers and cheering them on. Some were attempting strokes for the first time, persevering all the way to the finish. At the end of the pool, our College Principal, Mr Bailey, was there to meet those coming in the final places, offering a fist bump and a reminder to feel proud of their perseverance. Moments like these matter. They stay with students long after the day is over.

The atmosphere across the carnival reflected a strong and unified community. House spirit was evident everywhere, with students supporting one another from start to finish.

"The Carnival was a true celebration of our ‘be part of the event’ culture, with incredible house spirit, energy and involvement from start to finish. From the creative Disney-themed drawing competition and the always entertaining Fashion by the Pool, to the competitive swimming races and fun novelty events, there was something for everyone to get involved in." - Mrs McMullen, Head of Primary Sport

Our Swimming Carnival is more than a day at the pool. It is a culture builder. A reminder that when students are encouraged to step in, supported to try and celebrated for their effort, something powerful happens. It becomes a day of joy, challenge and spirit that reflects who we are as a College. In our caring, intentional school, even a swimming carnival plays a part in shaping students to become who God created them to be, ready to step into the world and bring their unique contribution.

"This was one of our most participated carnivals yet, and it showed in the atmosphere across the entire day. A huge congratulations to Andrews for taking out the overall house win." - Mrs McMullen, Head of Primary Sport
