The Chaplaincy Program at Gold Coast Christian College is currently run by Pastor Sean Berkeley. The Chaplaincy Department runs a number of programs throughout the year as listed below.
Chapel is held weekly for both primary and secondary students. It is a time of singing, activities and a spiritual message built around various themes throughout the year. The purpose of the Chapel program is to strengthen students’ individual faith journey with Jesus. Parents are welcome to attend.
Week of Worship (WOW)
Week of Worship is a much-loved event in our College, where both primary and secondary students participate in a daily chapel service throughout the week. All aspects of the program are tied to a theme and students hear from a visiting speaker who challenges them to take the next step with Jesus. Parents are also welcome to attend.
At the conclusion of WOW, students are given the opportunity to participate in Bible studies to further their spiritual development. If students wish to participate in Bible studies, a letter is sent home requesting parental permission prior to studies commencing.
IMPACT is a regular Friday night program for our Secondary students during the term. The program changes throughout the year and includes movie nights, live bands, interactive activities, a guest speaker and nibbles.
Pray & Play:
Pray & Play is designed to develop a sense of community at Gold Coast Christian College. Held once a term for K-12 students and their friends and family, the evening begins with a short worship service, followed by dinner at HeBrews Cafe. Pray & Play concludes with games for all ages.
Family Festival of Praise:
Family Festival of Praise is our annual whole College worship event held on a Saturday morning. It provides an opportunity for the College community - students, staff, extended family and friends - to come together and worship our Creator. All attending students are given a role to play in the program from greeting to singing, lighting and drama. We finish the morning with lunch together- an event to mark in your diary!
Every year, the College provides the opportunity for our senior students to be a part of a week-long 'adventure in service' to Texas, Queensland. Students engage in the community without an agenda and leave having gained special memories and friendships on the trip. Service To Others Really Matters (STORMco) is an Australia-wide initiative. Cambodia Mission Trip
Every second year, Senior students are invited to be a part of the 2-week Cambodia Mission Trip. Each class from Year 2 onward sponsors a child in Cambodia and Year 11/12 Students are given the opportunity to meet their sponsor friend on their trip. Students also assist humanitarian projects in rural Cambodia and also have the chance to experience a culture and country very different from their own.
The College Chaplains are available to support students and/or their parents in trials they may face and assist in providing pastoral care. Chaplains can also refer to the appropriate services where necessary.
The Gold Coast Christian College Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program is partly funded by the Australian Government Department of Education under the National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program.
